Taking a stand towards authenticity and honesty, Cladia asks herself whether it’s worth it to jump through the hoops, instead of just pretending: “Wouldn’t life be so much easier if, instead of repeating the swipe-match-talk-block cycle, we pretend to have an imaginary boyfriend, like we used to as kids?”
Such a unique and bold take, which will probably evoke mixed reactions in the listeners (that’s a good thing), flourishes even more when matched with Balla’s dazzling and uplifting artistry, with ‘Imaginary Boyfriend’ matching the lyricism on a sonic level too.
