Borrowing from chanson française as much as she does from the Berlin club scene, Chloé is able to build an aural universe that’s highly inspired by the European scene (especially 60s aesthetic), yet also boasting heightened global pop potential.
Delving deeper into the lyricism behind ‘Angels’, French explains: “It reflects on the feeling of wanting something so badly, you’ve lost all reasons why – and that itself feels like a strange kind of jealousy… for something you’re still unaware of.” It’s relatable, yet open-ended enough to entice a vast audience. French language lyrics are the cherry on the cake, adding to the single’s already prominent elegance.
