CATBEAR Gear Up for Upcoming Album with Meaningful Cut ‘It’s Okay’

We were busy writing about CATBEAR just over a month ago, celebrating the Brighton-based electronic duo as “championing a nocturne, intense flair, oscillating between emotive synth-pop and highly nostalgic synthwave”. The project’s appeal is undeniable, boasting a nostalgic flair that emerges through their music in the form of 80s-flavoured synthetisers and tight, sparse drum grooves.

Ahead of the release of their debut album on October 24, ‘For Now, For Ever’, CATBEAR have recently unveiled the latest piece of the puzzle, an intense and meaningful single that highlights a Queer-coded theme very dear to the British pair. Laced with punchy and dance-inducing drum machines, ‘It’s Okay’ embraces electrifying synth-pop with hints of melancholia, as CATBEAR deliver authentic, personal lyricism wrapped in shiny production and timeless character.

Written and produced by Zoe Konez, ‘It’s Okay’ “is about reaching a point where you stop apologising for yourself. It’s inspired by conversations about being queer in your late 30s and beyond – belonging, visibility, and being proud of the lives we’ve built. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to take up space, and to show the next generation that we’re still here, thriving.”
