2026 has been a very productive year so far for Cas Du Pree. In fact, it marks his triumphant return after a busy period of writing new music. ‘How To Behave’ EP was released back in April, perfectly showcasing Du Pree’s heartwarming, evocative lyricism and lovable imagery. This has been a central feature in Cas’ body of work up until now. You see, ‘Prism’ has just been released, a single that heavily scrambles the aural picture in favour of uplifting, kinetic territories.
In it, we find Cas Du Pree embracing his bolder, louder self, developing a dance-oriented, international-driven pop gem that carries a certain cinematic sheen. In fact, ‘Prism’ indulges in a little dualism, with evocative verses playfully contrasting with all-out, catchy choruses. It’s the perfect balance of intents, one that preserves Cas Du Pree’s raw, sombre songwriting while raising the piece’s overall energy.
From a lyrical standpoint, every Cas Du Pree’s record tends to be a bit of a personal affair, with the Dutch troubadour often writing about introspection and human nature. As Du Pree explains: “This track is personal yet again. It really says a lot about my personality. I can be really sweet, but also a real pain in the ass. That’s why I wrote a song about a prism. Like me, as I am the prism in this track, I can really give you a colourful and friendly person if you bathe me in light. But bring me darkness and get pitch black in return.”
