“Eclectica” is the new album from CameronStrings, and it leans into a folk-inspired palette while slipping in creative and technical choices that keep the whole thing alive. When I heard “Don’t Even Know You” open the record, I was taken by the melodies and the way the lyrics get their point across without any extra ornamentation. The warmth is unmistakable. I kept thinking about sunny mornings and slow days near the ocean.
“Drop Dead Gorgeous” follows with a walking bass line that hooked me immediately. The track is just plain fun. The vocal phrasing and the lyrical playfulness make it a highlight, and I kept catching myself smiling at how effortlessly it moves. “Even In Our Sleep” shifts the mood. The guitars and vocals are gorgeous, and I picked up a hint of early Radiohead in the atmosphere. There is something almost devotional in how the piece carries itself.
“Missing Shade Of Blue” is another strong moment. It feels more reflective yet still carries an endearing tone that runs through much of the album. I thought the lyrics stood out here as especially poetic. “Shut It Down” keeps the streak going, and the closer “While The Music Still Plays” brings things home with flamenco-leaning guitar work and Latin percussion that broaden the sonic world just enough without breaking the cohesion.
By the end, I realized how concise and sincere this EP feels. Each song arrives without unnecessary clutter, and the directness becomes part of its charm. These tracks feel like they were made by people who genuinely love what they are doing, and the invitation is open if you want to step inside their little corner of the celebration.
