2026 is revealing itself as a milestone year for Polish alt-rock/indie outfit By Million Wires. Ending a whopping fourteen-year hiatus, the Tarnów-based group has found the willingness and the inspiration to release music again, with their ‘Not Over’ EP announced for May 1st (pre-save here). In the meantime, the band has shared a few singles, striking evidence of what lies ahead. You see, pieces such as ‘I Know Better’ and ‘Over’ signal a certain loyalty to their historical sound, but also a push for modernity.
In practice, By Million Wires’ internal lineup has changed, with guitarist Mirek Skrok taking over lead vocals duties, doing so with class and charisma. ‘I Know Better’ is certainly a standout, with its evocative guitar-coded indie aura well balanced with friendly melodies and clean tones. The track carries different layers of guitar riffing, making for a complex and hypnotic harmonic cluster that well fits the group’s alternative allure and slightly nostalgic ethos. The resulting listening experience is rather dreamy and melancholic, but also quite light; this is a record that feels emotional, but without taking itself too seriously.
‘Over’ is instead a tad more melancholic, a piece that will appeal to any introspective music lover out there. The project’s forthcoming EP, ‘Not Over,’ will include five episodes in total, and since we were able to get a preview of it, we are happy to report that this is indeed a really good record, one that showcases By Million Wires’ unwavering commitment to the musical medium. Or at least to their guitars…
