Last time we wrote about London-based troubadour Bliss Carmxn was March 2024, as we praised ‘Big Enough’ as “a realisation that no one and no love can be everything that you need, but sometimes it can be enough”. Since then, the talented creative has been hard at work, writing and finding a path forward for their meaningful, Queer-driven ethos and vulnerable songwriting. The path has been found, with ‘Caffeine Orange’ marking Bliss Carmxn’s comeback single.
In it, we are greeted with a wondrous, pointillistic listening experience, as the record embraces an eclectic, bright sonic ethos and a unique electronic livery. Steeped in dreamy and hazy textures, ‘Caffeine Orange’ gets closer to dream pop territories, yet still unfurling a lyrical imagery that’s intimate and personal, quite folky, someone would say. Bliss’ vocals are charming and lush, perfectly fitting the overall vibe. Evoking early morning magic and rich natural landscapes, ‘Caffeine Orange’ feels like an irresistible fever dream – one you will not want to wake up from.
Originally from Canada and now based in the UK, Bliss Carmxn appears determined to kickstart a new creative era; well, it just started. Delving deeper into the single, they explain: “Built from a mosaic transposed into music at sunrise, the track begins with vocals and synth-led storytelling before shifting into a pulse-driven aftershock.”
