Bekka Dowland Returns with Heartwarming Bop ‘Be A Little Kinder’

‘Be A Little Kinder’ is the type of song that doesn’t require any effort to be understood or appreciated. It’s a warm and uplifting musical embrace steeped in relatable lyricism and charming vocals; exactly what country pop is all about. I’d go as far as declaring the record a perfect fit for an early January cold morning: ‘Be A Little Kinder’ is rather energetic, but in an elegant and poised form, and its sweet and gentle melodies gracefully complement the overall listening experience.

Promptly released on January 2nd, the song sees New England-based songstress Bekka Dowland return to the public eye after a one-year hiatus, a period that certainly served as a writing and creative buffer for Dowland, now ready to share her stunning work with the wider world. From a sonic standpoint, ‘Be A Little Kinder’ appears to take up a more traditional Country allure than its predecessor, ‘Failures & Fairytales’ EP (2024). Expect nostalgic fiddles, sharp acoustic guitars and a rich, functional supporting arrangement.

An observant and witty songwriter, Bekka Dowland has found fertile inspiration in the world around her, both from an introspective and global point of view. In that sense, her latest single seeks to remind us about love and mutual respect as the only sustainable path forward. As Dowland explains: “Inspired by true events that were happening in the US, this song came to life with the thought of spreading a little more kindness each day, even with the smallest of efforts.”
