Beatdenker Gets Experimental in Mesmerising Sonic Piece ‘I Like It But I Do It’

There’s something extraordinarily special in Beatdenker’s latest release. If we can call it release: to us sounds more like a piece of modern art. A performance installation, even. Spanning over twenty minutes in length, ‘I Like It But I Do It’ is a one-track sonic exploration of glitchy electronica, micro-sounds and industrial noise, all organized with seemingly abstract flair – although one can trace some sort of structures, perhaps showcased by the beat-based aesthetic.

Melodic and harmonic references are present too, although in fast-paced variations. Overall, the rules of conventional music are not forgotten – rather, they are bent, instead pursuing pure and unfiltered sound design, favouring gritty and saturated sounds over more polished sources. Available on Spotify in conveniently sliced bits, ‘I Like It But I Do It’ gets a mesmerising music video, featuring ever-evolving 3D art. It’s all pretty surreal, with the listeners finding themselves in uncharted territories. We’d say that the audio and visual aspects of the piece are equal, and should be experienced as such: one entity, one sensory experience that will greatly enrich your cultural references.

Described as having “32 Postcontemporary Beats” by Beatdenker himself, ‘I Like It But I Do It’ showcases the artistic prowess so proudly championed by the Berlin-based producer. We are certainly impressed – a worthy listen.
