Balter Unveil Playful Indie Sparkler ‘used to be’

A slick and vibey indie belter, ‘used to be’ is the perfect evidence of how good Balter are. Hailing from Northampton, the talented group champions slick, hazy guitar tones and fast-paced, tight drums, a formula that’s a perfect match for Tom Drury’s glossy, fluid vocals. He is joined by Jake Lewis on guitar, Liam Kay on bass and Jack Cox on drums, giving birth to a project that’s already begun turning heads all over the UK. Despite their young age, Balter have showcased tons of charisma and creative flair, something that will help them move further in the music business.

Taken from their latest EP ‘someday’, ‘used to be’ is one of the sunniest and more playful efforts in the record, a slice of romantic euphoria with hopeful contours and relatable, friendly lyricism. As Drury explains: “It is a cringy love song about the highs and lows of being in love at a young age, and the happiness and emotional toll it can bring. It compares the feelings of being in ‘love’ and how drastic it can feel at a young age, almost as if it has changed your life and shows the naivety of how dramatised it can all be.”
