Bailey Grey Pens Urgent Protest Song ‘More Of Us’

Fed up with the failing political and societal landscape around her, Barely Grey pen a urgent protest song, the kind of honest, impactful piece that could very well inspire a collective rebellion.

Bailey Grey is rather adamant about the purpose of her latest release, ‘More Of Us’. “It’s a loud and clear political statement… I want this song played at protests!”, she firmly declares. It’s a respectable mission, and one we can certainly relate to. You see, Grey, like perhaps everyone else on the planet, is acutely aware of the dark political period the world is enduring right now.  Seeking to break free from the shackles of a corporate society, Bailey is not afraid to take on billionaires and corrupted leaders; to do so, she uses the dearest tools at her disposal: art.

A talented songwriter and overall creative, the American songstress has appeared on our blog before, almost two years ago. At the time, we were writing about ‘By Design’, and Grey was still based in the UK. Having now relocated to New Jersey, Bailey has embraced a fervent political outlook, a choice that’s highly motivated by the complex and divisive landscape around her. A protest song is, after all, pretty much in her wheelhouse: ‘More Of Us’ showcases her witty, observant lyricism alongside her evocative vocals, here delivered with heightened urgency and unmatched charisma.

Delving deeper into the meaningful ethos behind the song, Grey explains: “This is a song about what it’s like living in America right now, and how it always has been. It’s about collectively waking up to the corruption and the brainwashing coming from the ‘powers that be.’ ‘More Of Us’ is recognising the state of the world, but realising we have real and true power when we band together and fight for the good.”
