Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends Close the Year with Elegant Tune ‘The Crow’

It’s been a quiet year for Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends. Hailing from Stockholm, the eclectic and partly mysterious project crowns 2025 with a last-minute release, ‘The Crow’, an elegant, nostalgic Americana and vintage pop piece steeped in lyrical tenderness and orchestral allure. It’s one of the most retro-flavoured offerings from the Swedish outfit so far, here showcasing a certain dedication to music history and a heightened global outlook. The single follows up from ‘Sing-Along Songs’, released back in March.

It all serves a purpose, although it might not be apparent yet. Gearing up for a forthcoming album, expected in 2026, Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is adamant about the direction he’s taking, getting out of the Americana umbrella and looking inward at old Swedish folk music. That said, we are also told that ‘The Crow’ will not be part of the LP, instead standing out as a solitary, yet meaningful chapter.

Delving deeper into ‘The Crow’, Alien Friend explains: “When I wrote the song, I felt I was rewriting an old Roy Orbison tune, although I didn’t try to. Recording it, I tried to maintain that feeling, with the Bolero-like rhythm, the sugary background vocals and the dramatic gestures incorporating strings and an English horn at the emotional climaxes.”
