Anthony Middleton and Robotek Reagan Share Collaborative EP ‘The Last Oasis’

‘The Last Oasis’ provides a compelling aural bath packed with brooding ambient textures and hypnotic soundscapes. Meet Robotek Reagan and Anthony Middleton.

There’s a reason we are called Mesmerized. While we cover an eclectic variety of genres, we do feel most at home in leftfield and electronic settings. We strongly value musical escapism, and we believe in its cathartic power. It’s only natural, then, that we would cover Objekts in the Mirror’s latest collaborative EP, ‘The Last Oasis’. In it, we find two creatives who have made a name for themselves in the electronica and ambient landscape, Robotek Reagan (Dance Spirit, Void Space Institute™) and Anthony Middleton (Darker The Night, Audiofly).

On this occasion, the two producers embrace a fully abstract and minimalistic character, building avant-garde soundscapes that feel ever-immersive and ethereal. Reagan’s ‘The Last Illuminated oasis of mystery’ opens the EP in luscious cinematic fashion, a five-minute aural bath oscillating between gloomy textures and angelic tones. Middleton’s ‘You Made Her Cry’ follows suit with a slightly more industrial piece, a ghostly and brooding composition that reminds us of dreampunk and ambient vaporwave, among other influences.

Delving deeper into the collaborative ethos that propels the EP, Anthony Middleton explains: “We have always been in each other’s musical orbits and during Covid we both dived deep into alternative music streams. This collaboration is a very natural example of how our music journeys continue to run in parallel.” ‘The Last Oasis’ is out now via multi-disciplinary record label Objekts in the Mirror, which is very adamant about its artist-first ethos: “Far from a traditional music label, OITM offers a unique, agenda-free platform for forward-thinking artists who prioritise musical exploration and artistic expression over commercial gain.”
