This is not our first encounter with Irish songstress Ailbhe Reddy; the keen reader might remember a feature we wrote about ‘So Quickly, Baby’ just over a couple of months ago, celebrating Reddy’s potent lyrical allure and her vibrant, intriguing sonic character. Fast forward to today, and the project is in full bloom, having recently released Ailbhe’s long-awaited album, ‘KISS BIG’. Featuring nine evocative, eclectic pieces, the LP is out now via Don Giovanni Records, also available in vinyl and CD format.
Written between Dublin, London, New York, and the American Midwest, KISS BIG traces the full cycle of love, loss, and renewal, the way we swear ‘never again’, only to find ourselves back at the start with renewed hope. Delving deeper into the album, Reddy explains: “It’s about the aftershock of a breakup. That liminal space where you’re equal parts sad, hopeful, terrified, and probably a bit delusional.”
For anyone keen, Reddy is embarking on a series of live dates across the US and Europe in the next few months.
