What happens when you put together a stellar line-up of collaborators? ‘Mighty Man’ happens: Brian Asha‘s latest offering. Hailing from Canada, the talented artist has teamed up with two-time Juno Award winner Jack De Keyzer and Grammy Award-winning producer Philip Larsen (Soft Cell, Kylie Minogue) for a series of remixes that really put the trio’s creative force in the spotlight.
‘Mighty Man’ has been delivered to us as a seven-track EP, yet it shares a number of different personalities and musical influences. You’ve got your original track, the 7 Inch Single that sees Asha flourishing on disco and funk goodness. Kickstarting the record, we also find the ‘Jack De Keyzer’s Rock’n’Roll Remix’, a piece that moves the 80s-leaning original into bolder guitar-driven territories while still preserving Asha’s kinetic, charming character. Larsen’s remixes are the most club-ready, truly delving into eurodance and nostalgic electronic tones.
Delving deeper into the meaningful ethos that guides the EP, Asha explains: “This song has a raw, visceral power. It’s gritty and joyful, and it celebrates what it means to be a man with positive, fun-loving vibes. Today, everything we experience online has been carefully curated for us. There’s little sense of adventure or danger left. This is an answer to that. It’s about fun, it’s about adventure, it’s about living mighty in real life.”
Not only is the EP highly meaningful and observant, but it also gave rise to an IRL movement called ‘Mighty IRL’, an organisation that aims to provide a positive example for all young men out there.
