The keen reader might remember London-based songstress SHARAI from a feature we published just over a year ago, praising ‘Get Back’ as “oscillating between aural nostalgia and lyrical futurism”. A BRIT School alumnus, the talented creative has recently unveiled a cohesive, intriguing EP, ‘AIR’, a seven-track record that collects all of the project’s previous singles alongside new offerings.
Just like her previous releases, ‘AIR’ blooms into a blend of intimate and organic pop, soulful influences, and distant echoes of Americana, all distilled into a highly personal and evocative package. The listening experience is vibrant and kinetic, with SHARAI able to shift mood and delivery on a moment’s notice. Her vocals crown the record with confidence and charisma, from the cinematic and stripped-back title track to the gentle pop jewel ‘Hennessy & Tears’. There’s something for everyone in it.
