ST. NIKLAS Returns with ‘Stay (Reimagined)’

Paying homage to the early days of his career, the Norwegian creative gives the record a slightly more refined livery, still being respectful towards its original version.

Norwegian creative ST. NIKLAS has recently returned with her latest effort, a reworked version of his primary hit ‘Stay’. Titled ‘Stay (Reimagined)’, the single brings the indie-pop talent to our attention, and we are sorry to have missed him so far; he flew under our radar. It’s a shame, as it’s clear that NIKLAS has built a loyal following, as showcased during last year’s tour and album ‘habits of a complex mind’.

From a sonic standpoint, ‘Stay (Reimagined)’ follows on the blueprint of its original shape, increasing the presence and the overall loudness. It’s as if ‘Stay’ had grown up, still carrying all the crucial features that made it a fan-favourite, while also stepping into a more coherent, fierce identity. Drums have been reinforced, as well as the emotional soundscapes that make the track so poignant and meaningful. No wonder so many folks around the world connected with it.

Commenting on the reasoning behind the release, ST. NIKLAS explains: “After years of playing ‘Stay’ live, I got used to hearing things that weren’t on the original recording. I wanted you to have that version too.” We appreciate that: paying homage to the early days of his career, the Norwegian creative gives the record a slightly more refined livery, still respectful towards its original version. It’s also the project’s only release so far (besides a cover released back in February), which might bode well for future offerings… (hint: an album is coming)!
