The album is expected to be unveiled on October 16, and judging by what we have heard so far, it’s bound to be a true gem.
The aural experience behind ‘Bird of Paradise’ is rather intimate and poignant. Whitehouse’s malleable, evocative vocals are offered to the listener in their rawest form, standing tall against a gentle acoustic piano. Only two instruments, yet packed with so much hypnotic energy and emotional songwriting. Such a stripped-back piece was made possible by the collaboration with pianist David O’Brien and by its live recording. What you hear is the actual performance, a feature that makes the track even more authentic than it already is.
