We have particularly enjoyed discovering ‘Home Now’. It’s a highly contemporary and vibrant offering, a record that showcases the electrifying and relatable character Trevor Phelps has to offer. Hailing from Arkansas, the American artist has built an aural universe that’s inherently his, a blend of kinetic alt-pop and malleable, catchy melodies. In a sense, ‘Home Now’ does a great job of bathing in pop-leaning waters while retaining a certain indie flair. The best of both worlds.
The production on the track is very functional, emboldened by a dancy beat that further blooms thanks to a sharp guitar riff and playful vocal samples. Phelps’ vocals are the perfect match for such a vibrant and uplifting record, capturing the listener’s attention from the first note. Furthermore, ‘Home Now’ comes with a wonderful music video that captures all of the understated nostalgia that emerges from the song.
Delving into the lyrical ethos that propels the record, Phelps explains: “My friends, the places we grew up, the routines that once felt permanent, suddenly they all became memories. I started writing these songs because I wanted to capture that feeling as honestly as I could before it faded. That’s what I wanted ‘Home Now’ to be”. If you like what you hear, Trevor will expand his creative allure further in the upcoming album ‘Small Town’… Stay tuned!
