Tasha Solomita Drops Stunning EP ‘Grey Light’

In ‘Grey Light’, Tasha Solomita strikes aural gold, an impressively nuanced and well-crafted collection of R&B and soul jewels.

We are slightly taken aback by how good ‘Grey Light’ is. We wouldn’t expect this from an artist who’s fairly unknown and under the radar. Yet, musical gems are often found where nobody is looking… in this case, aural gold was struck by California-born, Brooklyn-based songstress Tasha Solomita. 2026 is a rather pivotal year for her: after having unveiled a string of like-minded singles, she’s delivered us ‘Grey Light’, a four-track EP that’s sonically heartwarming and lyrically brooding.

Everything in the record is very well curated. From its tender, understated production to Solomita’s gorgeous, nostalgic vocals, here showcasing all of their malleable character and escapism-driven flair. Tasha’s influences are pretty clear, with nods to Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell sprinkled throughout the record.

From a lyrical standpoint, ‘Grey Light’ is built around what’s essentially an elegant and bold exploitation of human nature and introspective territories. It’s the quintessence of R&B and soul theming, material that feels relatable and electrifying, but above all, packed with conflicting emotions and unapologetic honesty. Delving deeper into Solomita’s observant, vulnerable songwriting, we are told: “There is a self-aware wink colouring this project; knowing each relationship acts either as a mirror, or a trip through a house of mirrors.”
