People deal with loss and grief in many different ways. For instance, Emily Daccarett deals with it by doing what she does best: writing heartfelt, meaningful music. On this occasion, the Los Angeles-based songstress truly focuses on penning material that’s reflective and complex, but also relatable and cathartic, at least from a lyrical perspective. ‘Another World’ is the perfect evidence of that. A double EP, the record opens with ‘Clarity’, an anthemic pop-rock piece with a stadium-ready livery.
In it, Daccarett uncover the deep introspective commitment that it takes when processing a heavy, personal loss. She questions everything, reminding herself of what love really is, reminding herself that love is never truly gone. Title track ‘Another World’ follows up in a more laidback, mellow fashion, unfolding a powerfully poignant ballad-driven soundscape. In it, Emily’s luscious and elegant vocals showcase themselves in all of their glorious aura.
In a way, the EP jumps from pain to resolution, first recognising the painful consequences of a broken love, but then embracing the idea of that very same feeling as a bright flame, one that never really stops burning. Giving us a global perspective of the deep lyricism contained in the EP, Daccarett explains: “It invites listeners to reflect on love, memory, destiny, and the idea that some connections transcend time and space.”
