Prem Byrne Returns with Heartfelt Cut ‘Three Words’

Prem Byrne writes about personal trauma in a tender, heartfelt manner, showcasing once again his deeply reflective lyrical ethos. Meet ‘Three Words’.

We have already learnt about Prem Byrne’s heartfelt, meaningful songwriting flair in a feature we published back in February, celebrating ‘Love is Blind’ as “built on hypnotic melodies and feather-like, gentle arrangements”, something that is rather foundational to the Californian musician’s whole artistry. You see, Byrne champions what we’d call ‘aural tenderness’: his music is certainly vibrant and cathartic, but also quite introspective and sensitive, often delving into reflective storytelling and personal, relatable lyricism. ‘Three Words’ is the perfect example of that.

Marking Byrne’s latest single, ‘Three Words’ carries a very self-explanatory style of songwriting, and in truth, we really enjoyed listening to it. You see, the song doesn’t leave anything to the imagination; instead, it explains all that needs to be explained and catapults the listeners into Prem’s evocative lyricism straight away. It’s a piece that captures one’s attention almost instantly, one that also made us reflect quite a bit. In particular, ‘Three Words’ focuses on Byrne’s troubled relationship with his deceased father, unveiling a lyrical journey that feels melancholic and nostalgic, but also bold and highly authentic.

Delving deeper into the record, the American artist explains: “I hope this song reaches the right spots in people’s hearts. It’s as much about forgiveness as it is about redemption, understanding, and acceptance of the parents who may have let us down.” We are confident it will connect with like-minded folks all around the world… musical trauma-bonding, you say?
