Italian-American Duo I’m Not a Blonde Returns with Melancholic Gem ‘To Fall’

A luscious cinematic comeback, ‘To Fall’ sees Italian-American duo I’m Not a Blonde embrace a highly emotional and introspective allure, as they uncover the fragility of committed, lifelong love.

Exuding a sacred, luxurious aural ethos and a gripping sense of lyrical urgency, ‘To Fall’ marks I’m Not a Blonde’s latest single, an honest and vulnerable tale of love and resilience that welcomes the Italian-American duo back into the global spotlight. In fact, it’s the project’s first release since 2024. A few things have changed since; others have stayed the same. Italian label INRI/METATRON is still supporting the talented pair, as they embrace a haunting, cinematic character.

Based in Milan, Chiara Castello and Camilla Benedini haven’t lost their sonic edge, instead finding a path forward through darker sound design and ethereal vocals. Some of their most nostalgic traits, usually tied to the 80s and 90s alternative music scenes, are here left temporarily behind, although we wouldn’t be surprised to see them come back in a future release. I’m Not a Blonde have also embraced a sombrer vocal delivery, especially when it comes to harmonic clusters and hypnotic effects.

As the intensity grows throughout the piece, the listener will become emotionally invested in it, an introspective and lyrical rollercoaster that’s as melancholic as it gets. The subject matter explores the fragile moment when early love shifts into a lifelong commitment. As I’m Not a Blonde explain: “‘To Fall’ is about the moment the illusion shatters, but you’re still inside the dream. It’s a slow fall, almost beautiful, full of desire.”
