MERTDER is Not Afraid to Fight Back in Visionary Piece ‘Whoredom’

Futuristic production and rebellious lyricism are all central components to MERTDER’s layered artistry. ‘Whoredom’ rallies around political resistance in the face of an increasingly dystopian and treacherous reality.

Following up on ‘Glass’ and ‘Geisha’, sonic visionary MERTDER continues his triumphal march towards a forthcoming EP, ‘Carnal Riot’. Marking 2026 as a pivotal year for a project that prides itself on futuristic sound design and striking, rebellious lyricism, the London-based creative has now returned with ‘Whoredom’, a brainiac dance-pop tune with deeper symbolic imagery. That’s perhaps one of the features that keeps us coming back to MERTDER; his ability to fuse an euphoric outward livery with a meaningful, multi-layered lyrical plane. Not everyone achieves that.

In fact, it’s further evidence of MERTDER’s bold artistry, here envisioning a sonic space that’s uniquely his own. It takes courage to venture off the beaten path. We suspect there’s a keen global audience for such hard-hitting music, one that most certainly finds its place at the intersection of progressive politics, sci-fi imagery and flirtatious, tongue-in-cheek allure. ‘Whoredom’ fits the bill rather perfectly, exploring right-wing hypocrisy in relation to morality and identity, a timely and observant topic, given the current state of the world.

As declared, MERTDER particularly excels in developing complex and multi-layered storytelling. Doubling down on the ethos behind the new single, he unequivocally explains: “‘Whoredom’ is unapologetically political. It declares that we will not be shamed for who we are, and that the very sexual power society tries to suppress will be used to fuck back, to tear down those who oppose it, exploit it, abuse their positions of power or perpetuate harm.”
