Highroad No. 28 Spotlight Uplifting Single ‘Likethelast’

Spotlighting another single from their recent album, Highroad No. 28 remind us of their eclecticism. They are not your average rock band; their artistry runs deep, borrowing from decades of musical explorations and longstanding experience.

The keen listener might recall Australian rock outfit Highroad No. 28 from a recent article about them in our publication. Celebrating the group’s previous single, ‘Ache’, we proudly declared it “a working compromise between tradition and modernity, taking a cue from late ’80s and early ’90s pop-rock, yet never sounding in any way retro.” We stand by our words; while Highroad No. 28 could be considered a legacy project by some, the band does a great job of maintaining a very modern and eclectic allure in each of their song.

‘Likethelast’ is the perfect example of that. Marking the Melbourne-based rock heroes’ latest effort, the piece showcases a new, fun side of Highroad No. 28. Unrelenting guitar riffs leave space to a more reflective, groovy allure, a funk-infused component that’s part pop and part indie. Part of the project’s recently released album ‘The Will to Endure’, ‘Likethelast’ does a great job of expanding the aural borders around the group; there’s a big potential for more eclecticism, should they wish to go for it.

Delving deeper behind the piece, Highroad No. 28 explain: “It captures the intensity of connection when every moment feels fragile and fleeting.” ‘Likethelast’ has been recorded at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne, mixed by James Taplin and mastered by Rafael Golazzi.
