We were busy writing about All The Young earlier this year, celebrating ‘Demons’ as “absolutely charming, an anthemic nugget of Britpop energy and meaningful lyricism.” We stand by our words; the Stoke on Trent-based outfit has long championed an anthemic, potent aural flair that’s hard to resist. Blending nostalgic and reflective songwriting with fierce, fuzzy sonic matter, All The Young manage to craft hard-hitting, electrifying records. After all, there was a reason the band was signed to Warner Records back in 2011. By the way, they once had The 1975 as their support act!
That’s cool, but what’s even cooler is how All The Young has evolved positively throughout the last decade. Now back in action with a revitalised lineup featuring Ryan Dooley, Arron Darlington, Mike Davies, and Tom Crompton, the project appears to have stumbled upon a new creative spark. ‘Something More’ is the perfect evidence of that. Drawing a productive year to a close, the track showcases all of the lyrical charisma and anthemic charge that All The Young have to offer, plus Gareth Nuttall’s expert production.
Delving deeper into ‘Something More’, All The Young explains: “Something More is about rising above all the negativity in the world and believing that we can do better. Sometimes we can feel like it’s all just a waste of time, but we are something more than that!”
