In a music landscape that encourages overly polished records and mainstream loyalty, Electric High seeks to break the mould, dropping a carefree, euphoric slice of nostalgic rock’n’roll and fuzzy, jagged guitar tones. What more could you wish for? Keen rockers all around the globe will likely deeply resonate with ‘Free To Go’, the Norwegian group’s latest album. It’s intense, unapologetic, haunting, and hypnotic. Steeped in massive distortions and catchy, sultry vocals, Electric High’s second album it’s the band’s best work so far.
The Bergen-based creatives are certainly productive. ‘Free To Go’ follows up merely a year after ‘Colourful White Lies’ was released, the project’s debut album. Packed with ten unfiltered rock episodes, the new record carries a potent, immediate and urgent character, a feeling that well fits the quick songwriting and production turnaround that brought the record to us. Perhaps Electric High have really liked the feeling of releasing an album, so much so that they got to work on the next one right away.
Delving deeper into the album, Electric High explain: “‘Free to Go’ expands on our signature sound: an explosive blend of classic and modern rock. Expect infectious choruses inspired by Aerosmith, Whitesnake and AC/DC, dark riffs echoing Black Sabbath, a touch of 70s glam and punk attitude, along with flavours of contemporary rock à la Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood.”
