Kazu Osumi Returns with Introspective, Nostalgic Jewel ‘Times of Love’

Following up on April’s ‘The Best Things in Life’, American songstress Kazu Osumi has now returned with her latest effort, ‘Times of Love’, a heartwarming slice of nostalgic lyricism and tender pop goodness that highlights the project’s more meaningful and reflective side. Trading hazy and cinematic production for a more conventional, vocal-focused acoustic outlook, the new single leaves ample space for Osumi’s introspective and elegant songwriting, here drenched in hypnotic existentialism and lovable imagery.

As defined by Kazu herself, ‘Times of Love’ maintains a rather ‘evergreen’ production, with simple acoustic pop arrangements providing a quaint and poised background for Osumi’s cathartic, luscious vocals. The addition of orchestral textures helps the record achieve a certain seasonal allure. Recorded using a lineup of real musicians, the track also includes backing vocals by fellow artist Jane Lui, aka Surrija.

Delving deeper into the single, Kazu Osumi explains: “I’ve always wanted to write a nostalgic song to leave behind for my loved ones, also one day when I’m gone. So naturally, it would include a meditation on Time. The prechorus was inspired by Surrija’s question in an Instagram post: ‘What is time?’. I used that to help me flesh out some of the lyrics.”
