LaRude Shares Personal, Evocative Piece ‘Macadam’

A talented creative and leading figure in the French cultural landscape, LaRude has recently shared a heartfelt, meaningful and poignant album, ‘Cool Kid’, a personal record packed with lyrical introspection, vulnerable storytelling and intimate, nostalgic memories. ‘Macadam’ is the track that catches our attention, a slice of honest and evocative spoken words on top of liminal pianos and nocturne textures. It’s an emotional confession of sorts, a cinematic look into LaRude’s complex upbringing.

As the French artist explains: “It’s a song about my relationship with my sister. I ask her for forgiveness for not having grown up the same way she did. While I was playing with my classmates, she was washing dishes and cleaning the house.” The album’s title track, ‘Cool Kid’, continues on the same theme, doubling down on LaRude’s luscious, melancholic sound, part elegant and part gritty. Overall, the record provides a striking example of what LaRude is capable of, especially from a vocal standpoint: a malleable, hard-hitting tone that’s as effective in melodic singing as it is in spoken words.

A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, LaRude also serves as the godfather of ADHEOS, a French organisation with both national and international impact, dedicated to defending the rights of sexual minorities.
