DownTown Mystic Share Wholesome, Energetic Rock’n’Roll Record ‘Mystic Highway’

Listening to ‘Mystic Highway’ might sound familiar, but not for the reasons you think. Of course, from a musical standpoint, the sonic matter at hand is pretty straightforward and energetic, with a stream of rock’n’roll goodness embodying a rather loyal and authentic old-school allure. Yet, the reason why the album will sound familiar is because DownTown Mystic is one of the top indie sync-licenced artists, with music in over 250 TV shows & films. Spearheaded by musician and songwriter Robert Allen, the project makes it a point to honour a wholesome, historically accurate rock character.

It works. Backed by Los Angeles-based Sha-La Music Publishing, DownTown Mystic has reversed all of their electrifying prowess into six hard-hitting, bold pieces, all carrying a great deal of catchy melodies and lyrical inspiration. If you are looking for rock’n’roll that’s heartwarming and relatable, you just found it. As an easter egg, ‘Mystic Highway’ features a large lineup of legendary musicians, the likes of drummer Steve Holley (Paul McCartney/Wings/Elton John/Ian Hunter), and Paul Page (Dion/Ian Hunter) on bass, among others.

Delving deeper into the project’s collaborative ethos, Allen explains: “One of the main features of the DownTown Mystic project is the musicians and the talents they bring to it. The best piece of advice I ever got was that if I wanted to have a great band, then I should be the worst player in it. Upon reflection, I realised that would be one rockin’ band!”
