Komaframe Shares Instrumental Wonder ‘Working on a New Brain’

A challenging and eclectic record, ‘Working on a new brain’ is the kind of record that finds its inherent value in the heightened instrumental charge behind it. Drawing inspiration from prog rock, trip-hop and more, the track feels elegant and expansive, rich in melodies and with a fantastic balance between purposeful electronica and organic, retro-infused instruments. There’s a certain cinematic quality to it, too, a feature that makes the piece hypnotic and nostalgic. Behind such a powerful effort, we find Italian producer and musician Komaframe

Hailing from Rome, the talented creative mentions some incredible bands as some of his influences, the likes of Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd, among others. Yet, when it comes to ‘Working on a new brain’, we sense a keen retro progressive character behind the piece. Think the pompous prog-rock of the ‘70s – a genre that actually had a large following in Italy.

Boasting past experiences in bands and groups alike, Komaframe is now taking matters into his own hands. Being a multi-instrumentalist, such an endeavour won’t be hard to achieve. ‘Working on a new brain’ is the perfect evidence of that. Delving deeper into the record, he explains: “The use of both electronic and acoustic elements was the most difficult aspect. Merging together all of these has been very challenging”.
