JW Paris Return with Potent, Anthemic Cut ‘Anything’

The last time we wrote about JW Paris was over two years ago. A lot of things have changed since ‘You’ve Got Me’, with JW Paris catching the attention of a long list of national tastemakers. The likes of Jack Saunders, Steve Lamacq, and John Kennedy, among others, all had good words to spare for the London-based rock outfit. It’s easy to understand why that’s happening: simply, JW Paris boast a gritty and raw guitar-driven character, often steeped in fearless euphoria and relatable lyricism.

Featuring Gemma Clarke on drums, Aaron Forde on vocals and bass, and Daniel Collings on vocals and guitars, the British trio have recently returned with their latest effort, ‘Anything’, an anthemic indie and alt-rock exploration with a rather bright, catchy twist. Blending hard-hitting, rebellious alt-rock with Britpop’s playful charisma, the record feels almost timeless, condensing three decades of British glory into a nostalgic yet contemporary cut. What more could you wish for?

From a lyrical standpoint, ‘Anything’ is bold and daring, exploring the fine line between dreamy desires and real-life chaos. As JW Paris explains: “The looping mantra of spinning ‘around and around’ mirrors both the dizzying rush of youth and the claustrophobia of being trapped in someone else’s expectations.”
