Seasonal Falls Embrace a More Vibrant Character in ‘Fun Crumbles’

This is the sort of indie we love: hazy and crunchy, the perfect blend of gentle, dreamy lyricism and vibrant, eclectic guitar euphoria. In fact, ‘Fun Crumbles’ shares a hint of indie-folk-esque elegance, not a surprise when considering that the two talented humans behind it hail from the idyllic land of Switzerland. Going by the Seasonal Falls moniker, Roman Gabriel and Andrew Pelletier have long teamed up on a heartwarming, cathartic brand of quaint indie goodness. With their latest EP, out today, the duo appears to embark on a slightly fiercer path, one that feels more distorted, yet still rather clean and polite.

Okay, okay: we’ll admit that the fuzzy distortions in the title track ‘Quiet Time’ are not actually that polite. Evoking a grunge-esque, garage-rock aura, the piece feels coarse and tight, except for Andrew Pelletier’s vocals, still drenched in heartwarming charisma and a welcoming flair. The songwriting is ‘Fun Crumbles’ comes from founder Roman Gabriel, a gifted creative battling chronic illness with artistic candour. By the way, if you’d like to experience Seasonal Falls’ gentler side, just check out the EP’s closing episode, ‘All Alone’, a fun, yet emotive piece with a diverse arrangement.

Delving deeper into ‘Fun Crumbles’, the pair explains: “Lyrically, it touches on getting older, navigating family life, and drifting into nostalgia. But at its heart, the EP is simply about spreading a little joy and fun.” A.k.a., don’t complicate what doesn’t need to be complicated. Just enjoy the music.
