We truly enjoyed listening to ‘Growing Roots’. Drenched in old-school soulful flair and a gentle funk groove, the record sees British sensation Elles Bailey back in the driver’s seat, sparking a new era for the boldly independent project. Having built a loyal and dedicated audience over the years, Bailey has recently teamed up with Cooking Vinyl & Outlaw Music on a forthcoming album release, ‘Can’t Take My Story Away’.
‘Growing Roots’ is the first piece of the puzzle, a stunning preview of what’s to come in the larger record. To be honest, we are quite impressed; the musicianship heard in the single is off the charts, with a talented array of instrumentalists well complementing Elles’ dynamic, potent vocals. Bailey’s tone is indeed unique; grainy on the surface, but with a melodic and elegant core, the Bristol-based artist holds a timeless quality, a special tone that makes her relevant in every decade.
Alongside the new album, Elles Bailey is also gearing up for a plethora of 2026 EU and UK dates, including a London headline show at Assembly Hall on March 19th. Delving deeper into ‘Growing Roots’, Bailey explains: “There is a quiet strength running through this album and a deep-rooted honesty, and whilst there are some moments that reflect on some of the hardest chapters of my story, there’s a feeling of joy threaded through every note.”
