The Hill Shares Wonderful Sophomore Album ‘Noble Station’

As we dive into ‘Noble Station’, a feeling of inadequacy arises, as we grapple with our inability to enjoy a wonderfully laid-back, soothing record. We blame the current culture: with everything moving so fast and attention becoming a rare commodity, the artistic landscape appears to have grown into a flashy, explosive continuum, a space where one has to continuously ‘hook’ the listeners – or pay the price of losing them. In that regard, ‘Noble Station’ swims upstream, unveiling a collection of songs that move at a slow, quaint pace.

Packed with evocative energy and nostalgic flair, the record aids a great deal of reflection and cathartic escapism, navigating country and Americana goodness with the utmost respect and the most wholesome artistry. Packing twelve songs full of relatable, emotional storytelling, ‘Noble Station’ showcases the proud work of Philadelphia-based creative The Hill, here teaming up with producer Mike ‘Slo-Mo’ Brenner on a meaningful, grounded album. It’s an honest, upfront record, a slice of kindness and understanding in an otherwise gloomy reality.

Delving deeper into his sophomore album, Jon Kowit (as The Hill is known by day) explains: “I am just a music junkie lucky enough to connect with Mike and a group of notable indie rock veterans who know how to make some great music with all the subtleties. It’s been gratifying to see the connection the music has made in some interesting places. We’re obviously hoping folks enjoy the new album as much or more, and it leads to some more placements and touring.”
