Sean Griffin Takes a Bath in Britpop Goodness with ‘Rocks Off’

The keen reader might remember New York-based creative Sean Griffin, talented songwriter with a knack for observant, relatable lyricism and a deep love for his Irish roots. If ‘People Are Mad’ served as our introduction to the American artist, a single we defined as “a heartwarming, euphoric and highly relatable cut”, sophomore effort ‘Rocks Off’ showcases Griffin in a grittier, more hard-hitting light, with pure, unfiltered rock’n’roll being mangled at the service of Sean’s playful, yet urgent lyricism.

Opening a viable path to the project’s debut album, the single appears to consolidate the talented rocker’s energetic nature, a quality that, after all, was certainly not hidden. Boasting a successful past in NYC’s punk scene with prominent band The Ruffians, Griffin is able to modulate between softness and striking charisma with ease, as ‘People Are Mad’ and ‘Rocks Off’ greatly showcase. In the latter’s case, references appear more inflamed and fierce, with tons of Britpop goodness being put on full display.

Produced by Andrew Goodsight (with additional production by Sean) and mixed by Paul Kolderie (Pixies, Radiohead), ‘Rocks Off’ is now available via Right Track Records/Universal. A small UK and London tour is in the works for October, stay tuned!
