Zohara Pays Homage to Björk with Cathartic Rendition of ‘Jóga’

Following up on last year’s album ‘Welcoming The Golden Age’, transformative creative Zohara appears to have struck gold once again, doubling down on her eclectic sonic formula with unmatched elegance. A fierce explorer of anything leftfield and with a distinct Arabic influence, the talented Israeli songstress has developed an elegant, boundary-pushing character that’s unlike anything else we have heard before.

Recently, Zohara has returned with a personal, authentic rendition of Björk’s ‘Jóga’, here treated to the project’s cathartic, vibrant aural energy. Fusing trip-hop-flavoured electronica with Middle-Eastern flair, the rising visionary deeply connects with the record’s lyrical ethos, especially regarding love, the uncertainty it holds, and the beauty of danger.

Delving deeper into her artistry, Zohara explains: “Covering such a perfect piece of music can, at times, feel unnecessary. But in today’s political climate, building cultural bridges through music feels, at times, like an act of survival. Bjӧrk — a trailblazing woman who has always fused different musical worlds from the very beginning of her career — symbolises for me the power of art to change reality.”
