‘In The Valley Of The Cherry Trees’ marks our point of entry into Glass Rumours’ hypnotic, fierce sonic universe. The project has really bloomed this year; on their way to release a five-track EP, ‘waterfall’, the talented British duo has so far unveiled four singles showcasing the hard-hitting and nostalgic rock character they champion so proudly. On that note, latest effort ‘In The Valley Of The Cherry Trees’ is perhaps a welcome respite from all the fuzzy guitars and furious rock’n’roll imprint. It’s way more measured and wavy, embodying 70s flair with charisma and a touch of psych influences.
In a way, it’s more of a lyrical-based effort, with evocative guitar riffs and eclectic arrangements. Glass Rumours do a good job on the vocals harmonies, taking the listeners on intense and epic storytelling, infusing a touch of cinematic energy to an already sublime release. It’s here that we can fully appreciate the pair’s relatable, catchy songwriting, further proof that their sonic character is contonuosly evolving.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Glass Rumours explain: “The song explores themes of obsession and entrapment, inviting listeners to a darkly whimsical realm where desire becomes a dangerous illusion. In this valley, once you succumb to the spell, escape may be forever out of reach!” Such a mysterious flair fits the project very well, and we look forward to the artistic heights they might reach in the near future.
