When it comes to pure, unfiltered rock’n’roll energy, one might want to look towards Major Spark. Hailing from Boston, the talented, eclectic duo has recently unveiled their latest effort, a nugget of nostalgic, fuzzy charisma and roaring euphoria, ‘The Other Side’. In it, founders Mark Goodman and Brian Charles showcase their musical wisdom and their technical proficiency. Both music industry veterans, Goodman takes care of songwriting and production duties, with Charles offering his performing and frontman expertise.
‘The Other Side’ is relatively uncomplicated and relatable. Boasting a gently distorted sound, the track takes us through an array of influences, including American rock, folk elements and pop melodism. What matters is the final product, which in this case is of the highest quality, with a fantastic recording and catchy songwriting helping give listeners a good time. And god knows, we are all in need of a good time these days!
The single is taken from Major Spark’s upcoming LP, ‘Walk Among The Poppies’, expected later this year. ‘The Other Side’ comes with a stunning music video, directed by Roger Metcalf, a frequent collaborator of the project. As we are told, “this video is less of a narrative and more of a bottled feeling: freedom, empowerment, and release. Here, the youth of the world are singing, letting their hair down, and cutting loose, taking Mark’s words of wisdom to heart.”
