Coffee House Anarchists Are Not Afraid of AI in New EP ‘ART_Official Intelligence’

‘ART_Official Intelligence’ serves as our point of entry into Coffee House Anarchists’ nuanced, eclectic artistic universe. A longstanding project, the group is made up of three committed creatives, Alex, Justin and Williams. Now living in the South of France, the previously UK-based outfit is a rather observant entity, boasting a strong DIY ethos and always exploring new aural formula. It’s a rare sight in today’s music landscape, where everyone seems to be running behind trends and established frameworks.

Not Coffee House Anarchists. They just don’t care; it must be a truly liberating feeling. Their music sounds just like you would imagine, fierce, haunting and powerful, oscillating between nostalgic rock and pop influences and a touch of electronic flavouring. ‘ART_Official Intelligence’ is the project’s latest effort, a three-track EP deeply tied to the world around us. Embarking on a striking reflection on the dystopian consequences of AI, Not Coffee House Anarchists pen a record that’s reflective and prophetic, experimenting with a technology that scares many artists out there.

Such meaningful lyricism is counterpointed by varied and experimental arrangements, ranging from an acoustic guitar to more complex electronic textures. Delving deeper into the EP, they explain: “While most musicians are fighting against the advance of AI, we decided to do the opposite. That meant embracing the technology that is out there and seeing what could be done with it. It was a fascinating journey, and the aim was never to press a button and instantly have a finished piece of work; that isn’t artistry, it’s just the illusion of artistry.”
