A slice of hazy indie goodness, ‘sportscar [scrapped]’ sees American creative meg elsier indulge in a bittersweet, evocative cut, a blend of fuzzy guitars, dreamy textures and an overall noisy character. It’s the perfect match for elsier’s lush and melancholic vocals, here delivered with effortless charm. The single is taken from meg’s upcoming full-length release, a deluxe edition of her acclaimed debut album ‘spittake’, expected on July 25th via Bright Antenna Records.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘sportscar [scrapped]’, elsier explains: “‘sportscar’ is a really interesting addition to the deluxe, specifically because ‘spittake’ almost had a completely different identity. There was a time when I was playing with the idea of naming the album Check Engine Light On. The influence of cars and how they move you through life is something I didn’t realise was so important to ‘spittake’ until after I’d written it.”
