Milo Bloom Introduces Heartfelt, Eclectic EP ‘Bloom County’

It took us a while to understand the overarching ethos behind ‘Bloom County’. You see, the EP is incredibly eclectic and wholesome, with heartfelt, nostalgic songwriting drenched in a wealth of pop, indie and rock tones. Penned by New York City-based musician Milo Bloom, the record is a rather personal affair; described as “a fictional town to store my thoughts”, ‘Bloom County’ finds its unmistakable character in Milo’s cathartic vocals and expressive melodies, sparking a listening experience that’s hypnotising and introspective.

What more could you wish for? Introduced by a fever-dream esque intro (with a hint of soulful throwin in it for good measure), ‘Bloom County’ starts its aural journey from ‘Mona Lisa’, a virtuoso pop tune packed with elegant jazz references and an anthemic flair. It’s here that we get a glimpse of the American singer’s wonderful soaring vocals, delivered with a certain theatrical flair. ‘Telephones’ and ‘Memory Lane’ turn the heat down, finding a worthy refuge in spacious acoustic guitars and alt-folk elements.

‘Mickey’ channels Milo Bloom’s inner Tame Impala, with a keen psych influence manifesting in lush synth tones and dry drum grooves. His vocal tone reaches a new level of quality, with a thousand harmonies organised into an overwhelming stream of angelic goodness. ‘See The Years’ takes the record to a close in poignant fashion. Overall, ‘Bloom County’ is a worthy discovery, an EP that’s extremely curated and heartfelt. “These songs are everything I love about music”, Milo eloquently reiterates.
