Another Gem from Baltic Jazz Recordings: ‘So Glad’ with MÆVEY and MT Jones

Whenever we spot a new release from Baltic Jazz Recordings, we know it’s going to be extremely elegant and lush. The Liverpool-based imprint has already made a name for itself thanks to a series of easy-listening releases, with head-honcho Steve Levine teaming up with a plethora of talented vocalists and songwriters, all working together for the common good. This time around, the ‘common good’ takes the shape of a soothing, evocative ballad, ‘So Glad’, guided by Welsh songstress MÆVEY’s evocative vocals.

Built on a charming 6/8 groove, ‘So Glad’ moves with tenderness and passionate flair, letting MÆVEY take listeners through a passionate lyrical journey, one that we won’t forget anytime soon. The record benefits from MT Jones’ songwriting expertise, writing the piece together with the Welsh creative. Grammy and Brit Award-winning producer Levine takes care of the final recordings, with a dreamy horns section laid down in Chicago by Paul Von Mertens.

Speaking about the record, MÆVEY explains: “So Glad’ came out of a session in the studio with MT Jones and Baltic Jazz Recordings. We had decided that we would like to write a song together, and it just happened in this magic sort of way when all moments align. ‘So Glad’ is a song that knows it’s a love song. It’s nostalgic, tender, honest, and so full of heart.”
