As indie-folk goes, ‘Front Door Porches’ is an absolute jewel. Steeped in soothing, cathartic tones, the single showcases the glimmering artistic world of attentive singer and songwriter Argonaut. Oscillating between understated dreaminess and heightened melancholia, the Belgian-based creative crafts an aural profile that’s gentle and hazy, yet also meaningful and poignant. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a solitary moment of introspection, or a moving episode of reckoning on a dim-lit evening.
Whichever way you look at it, Argonaut’s musical prowess is undeniable. Furthermore, this was pretty much his debut: together with previous effort ‘A Last Date With Destiny’, Iason Passaris – as the talented artist is known by day – is gearing up for much bigger things. The first one is expected for May 23rd, when he’ll unveil his debut EP ‘Rêveries’. A concept album will follow sometime in the future, co-produced by the likes of Ruben Lefever (Float Fall).
We were lucky enough to get a peek at ‘Rêveries’ ahead of time, and we are truly impressed. The production quality is stellar, with spacious, cinematic tones perfectly co-existing with intimate vocals and angelic harmonies. It is both chaotic, from an emotional perspective, and effortlessly organised and meaningful. Every little nugget of sound is exactly where it’s supposed to be, with Argonaut’s striking, luscious vocals floating over the instrumental with renowned charisma. A worthy discovery.
