JEZTLS Joins Bandicut on Leftfield Offering ‘Circles in the Car Park’

We appreciate it when artists use a bold approach to their material. Not pursuing trends, not writing for the mainstream, instead walking a deeply personal and unique path. JEZTLS is one such creative, committed and talented British producer with a solid history of Leftfield and IDM works. Having published both originals and remixes on his label Virile Recordings, the Scarborough-based visionary has recently returned with another eclectic banger, ‘Circles in the Car Park’, a collaboration with fellow sonic alchemist Bandicut.

Hailing from Lisbon, Bandicut is a prominent figure in the emerging Afro-electronic scene, a quality that helps give the track a wider, kaleidoscopic character, one that feels boundary-pushing and personal. Introduced by chopped and heavily processed vocal samples, ‘Circles in the Car Park’ moves slowly and with intensity, packing a wealth of gloomy, obscure textures and intricate rhythms, all elements that make the single quite haunting and fierce.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, JEZTLS explains: “This song really took 3 years of work and fine-tuning in such a crazy way, I would spend my nights playing about with plug-ins and distorting my vocals until they became unrecognisable and then layer them pitch-shifted. I’d heard about Bandicut from a Bandcamp compilation, and I fell in love with the sound that is coming out of Portugal with these incredible percussion loops and vocal chops. I knew he would add another layer to this track.”
