The keen reader might remember Estonian songstress VIAVE. She is fiercely on her way to conquer the global pop landscape, having recently released a string of singles and an EP, ‘THE SPARK DIED ON SUNDAY’. In particular, ‘Eleventh Hour’ is the record that catches our attention. Also a talented producer and DJ, the Tallinn-based creative showcases all of her sonic potential in the track, layering a dancy, eclectic aural panorama well balanced between leftfield sound design and pop euphoria.
Marking VIAVE’s most uplifting effort in the aforementioned EP, ‘Eleventh Hour’ also showcases her ability to get comfortable with upbeat writing as she is with more melancholic and evocative pieces. Not just a nuanced musician, VIAVE also takes a keen interest in the visual aesthetic around her work, with all the footage from the videos for ‘THE SPARK DIED ON SUNDAY’ coming together into a 9-minute visual album film, funded by the Estonian Authors’ Society.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Eleventh Hour’, VIAVE explains: “I loved playing around with this melodic house-type vibe. It’s definitely out of my comfort zone. I wanted to make a danceable pop anthem that captures the emotional spectrum of a messy relationship.”
