Hailing from County Durham (UK), Aaron Dinning has been turning heads in the pop world, crafting introspective, personal songs deeply steeped in his fierce queer perspective. He’s been dancing around the subject all of his life, now seeking to set an example for any troubled young people out there. As he explains, “I always felt ashamed of my sexuality growing up. These are the songs I wish I had heard written by people like himself.”
‘Look Who’s Holding The Gun Now!’ is the perfect example of that. A lush, evocative pop anthem, the track flourishes on dreamy tones and charming vocals, further enriched by Dinning’s relatable, empowering lyricism. Exploring themes of heartbreak and unrequited love, the song is as anthemic and personal as it could be.
Drawing from personal experience, Aaron continues: “The premise of the song is rooted in the other person’s experience of having the luxury to shoot somebody down, and how I made myself so small for them to be able to do that, we’re still friends now and he says I summed up both of our experiences at the time perfectly”.
